A degree in ceramic engineering from Ohio State University led Seymour Paul Ward on a number of adventures. His knowledge of brick making was used for mining operations in Nevada, Chile and Mexico. When he returned to Los Angeles, he set up a ceramics business. Family lore says that he had a couple of patents for glazes. His wife Jeanne, with her sense for business, was able to parlay his knowledge into a very successful enterprise. S. Paul Ward was a community leader who served in the Chamber of Commerce and in the Tournament of Roses Association.
